About me
Deniz Gezmis (born 1999, Van, Turkey) lives and works in Istanbul. Deniz Gezmis brings a fresh breath to contemporary art through dollar reproductions and doodle drawings that highlight the power of simple lines. In his digital and physical works, the artist, who carries traces of minimalism and modern expression, aims to offer viewers an original experience.
Today, Deniz is particularly recognized for his dollar reproductions. In this series, he reinterprets U.S. banknotes, transforming them into socio-political critiques. Merging pop art aesthetics with disruptive criticality, the artist questions perceptions of value, power, and global capitalism, turning everyday symbols into thought-provoking works.
Deniz’s art is also shaped by his mastery of doodle drawings. Believing in the power of simple lines and forms, he emphasizes minimalism’s expressive strength through these spontaneous compositions filled with abstract patterns and playful geometries. “Even a single line can tell a story,” Deniz states, underscoring the intentional simplicity that breathes life into his works. This philosophy is reflected in his mixed-media creations, which move fluidly between the digital and physical worlds.
